Dear WPHS Band Alumni,

This year will mark the 80th anniversary of the WPHS Band program. Like we do every five years, we will hold an all-band reunion to gather as many band alumni, alumni parents, and past directors together to celebrate this amazing program during the week of homecoming, October 2-4, 2019. Take a moment now to update your contact info by registering through the membership tab above. We will post new information regarding the reunion here as well as on our Facebook group page: Winter Park High School Alumni Band. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for any or all the reunion events:

  • Wednesday, October 2nd - Homecoming Parade and Roar at Park Avenue starting around 5:30 PM.
  • Thursday, October 3rd - Reunion Band Concert, WPHS Auditorium at 7 PM—gather early in the lobby and stay for the reception afterwards.
  • Friday, October 4th - Homecoming Game at Showalter, 7 PM—Alumni Band will meet at Brookshire at 6 PM.

Purpose:As we head toward a new school year, we have a new fundraising purpose to support this 80th year of the Winter Park High School Band program. Last year, we collected money to help send the band to perform in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Disneyland. This year’s purpose will be to purchase a new drum major podium, as well as instrument acquisitions and repairs. Please continue your support or start your support today! Homecoming: The Alumni Band will meet at Brookshire Elementary

at 6 PM and walk in with the band as usual. Field pre-game participation

for those with instruments and an 80th Reunion T-Shirt will include

meeting on the home sidelines at 6:45 PM. We will be pre-selling

new 80th Reunion T-Shirts and can be ordered from the tab at the

top of the page. The shirts will be available for pick up at all three

reunion events. A very limited number of extra shirts may be available,

but pre-ordering is the preferred method and the best chance to

get your size. Stay after the game to watch their half-time show, The

Land of Make Believe. All stands tunes will be available through a link on the website to print and bring with you. If you need an instrument, you must let us know by email:

History: The WPHSBAA has raised over $30,000 for the band since it was founded in 2009, and we need to continue our efforts. It was created to help offset the rising costs for a band program of this caliber, including purchasing/repairing instruments, ordering music, maintaining the trailer and uniforms for the Sound of the Wildcats Marching Band, and for trips to showcase the extensive talent within the ensembles performing at festivals across the nation. Mike Clemente has recently been named the Director of Bands, after more than five years as the Associate Director. His years of experience will ensure that the traditions we hold dear will be continued, especially our reunions every five years and the annual homecoming events with the Alumni Band.

From all the board members of the WPHSBAA, we hope to see you this fall, and thank you for your generous support.
